Smartphone devices may soon be getting an expandable up to 2TB of storage over microSD, as many phone manufacturers have been promising. SanDisk is getting us a little closer to that mark, with a new 400GB microSD card that now claims the title of the world’s largest storage capacity for the memory card format.
SanDisk just announced its biggest microSD card yet—but it doesn’t come cheap. The world’s first 400GB microSD starts shipping in September, and will set you back GHS 1,107.46 Ghanaian Cedis. Not only is SanDisk’s 400GB monster the biggest yet, it beats out the previous record holder — Samsung’s 256GB card from last year — by a considerable margin.
This microSD has up to 100MB/s transfer speeds. For those of you who aren’t aware of what that means, here you go: You’ll be able to move up to 1,200 photos in a single minute. That’s pretty impressive.
