Huawei is saying it is giving up on “very low-end devices” because of the low revenue margins. This however doesn’t mean they will explode the prices of their flagships, which are truthfully hugely affordable considering their specs.
As the third largest phone manufacturer in the world, Huawei is having problems breaking into the American market. If they compete at a more premium price point, they might do better.
“We are giving up the very low-end devices because the margin in this is extremely low, and it’s not making enough profit for us,” Yu said. “The priority is Europe, China and Japan, where the economy is healthy and people are able to consume them.”
