On Tuesday, July 11, Windows Phone 8.1 fell into Microsoft’s “end of support” category of software. What this means is that the software giant, Microsoft, will from this day not release updates of any kind for the once mobile operating system. Note that this includes security updates.
It’s quite sad, even as I remember how close a competitor they were to Android and IOS. If you’re still clinging to your Windows Phone, the “no security updates” alone should make you “drop that yam” and buy a new one. For sure, hackers will prey on your unfortunate device and worry the hell out of you.
Last year, Microsoft had a market share of less than one percent, so someway somehow, we all saw this coming. This was clearly predictable. Better luck next time, Microsoft!
