The students were taken in depth through how big data can be used to gather information on Dumsor and ways they can use the gathered information to solve the problem.
In addition, they learnt to code, made presentations and designed websites. After a tough competition, the best team won amazing prizes. Which includes sponsorship by General Electric Ghana to have free coding classes at the Academy.
According to the CEO of Soronko Academy; Mrs. Regina Honu, “we believe an important skill children should be taught early on is critical thinking and problem solving. At Soronko we want to train the next generation of innovators and problem solvers that use technology and human centered design. We believe Africa’s greatest resource is its human resource and we want to unlock the creativity and potential children have to help develop the continent.”
Not to forget that students were given a first hand experience of drone technology by Align Media. They captured content in real time from a higher altitude to help the students better get the concept of the futuristic tech.
